As we remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were taken from us on September 11, 2001, waves of raw, unfiltered emotion overcome us. Confusion became fear, fear became pain, and pain became a place where many found themselves for days and years to come.
For the survivors of 9/11, especially the first responders who bravely sought to provide safety, strength, and hope to those at Ground Zero, the moral injuries incurred have continued to last beyond those in plain sight. In the inaugural episode of the Wired BioHealth Podcast, we pay tribute to New York's Finest and the Bravest of the Brave as we explore the biology of trauma.
"Trauma is more than a way to qualify a negative experience; it has a real and measurable impact on the body." We'll discuss what this means, how it can be a valuable communication tool, and what can be done to reverse the biological damage of trauma.
